Scene coordinates real-world meetups through trust-centric peer curation. We do not sell your profile data to third-party advertisers and we do not track you across unrelated apps or websites. We collect only what's needed to verify accounts, compute safety and trust signals, map nearby plans, enable private communication, keep the app secure and running, and understand how the product is used.
This policy explains what we collect, why, who we share it with, and the choices you have. It covers both the Scene mobile app (Android and iOS) and kiyascene.com.
When you register we collect the details you provide: name, phone number and/or email, username, city, date of birth, profile photo, bio, and interests. This is used to create and operate your account.
We access your device's photo library and camera only when you choose to set a profile picture or complete identity verification. We do not browse your photos otherwise.
At signup, we collect an unedited face photo (selfie) and process it against your profile picture using self-hosted facial feature extraction to confirm identity consistency. This face data is used solely for identity verification and fraud prevention - it is not used for advertising and is never sold.
Selfie images and verification metadata are stored securely, accessible only to administrators and review teams for audit trails - never shared publicly or exposed to other users.
With your permission, we collect and store your approximate and precise location when you open the app or share a coordination point. This is used to calculate proximity to nearby scenes and partner venues and to display maps. You can revoke location access at any time in your device settings.
Precise coordinates are never shared with public users - only shown as a randomised general distance, or shared explicitly with mutual connections when you opt into a plan. Map rendering is powered by Google Maps, which may receive device and location data as part of displaying the map (see section 9).
Messages between connections use client-side end-to-end encryption (X25519 public/private keypairs stored on-device). Scene servers store encrypted payloads only and cannot read message content.
We collect social handles (Instagram, LinkedIn, Twitter/X) and peer vouch records (giver, receiver, comment) to evaluate trust scores. Referral and invite graphs are tracked to verify authentic local connections.
To understand how the app is used and improve it, we collect app-activity data - screens viewed, features used, and in-app actions - using PostHog. This is linked to your account identifier along with your username, city, and access tier so we can analyse behaviour across sessions. This data is used for product analytics only and is not sold or used for third-party advertising.
When the app crashes or errors, we collect diagnostic data - crash logs, error stack traces, device model, operating system version, and app version - using Sentry. This is used to detect, diagnose, and fix stability and performance problems.
If you enable notifications, we register a push token through Firebase Cloud Messaging (Google) and store basic device information (device model, OS version, app version, and a unique device/installation identifier) so we can deliver notifications and secure your account. You can turn off notifications at any time in your device settings.
We host data with, and share the limited data described above with, the following service providers who process it on our behalf:
Google (Firebase Cloud Messaging, Google Maps/Places) - notifications and mapping. PostHog - product analytics. Sentry - crash and performance diagnostics. Supabase and Render - database and application hosting. Expo - app delivery and over-the-air updates.
Some of these providers store and process data on servers located outside Pakistan, including in the United States. By using Scene you consent to this international transfer. We share data only as needed to provide the service, comply with the law, or protect the safety of our community; we do not sell personal data.
kiyascene.com uses cookies and Google Analytics to measure site traffic and improve the website. You can control cookies through your browser settings. This applies to the website only, not to end-to-end encrypted content in the app.
Data is encrypted in transit (HTTPS/TLS). Chat content is end-to-end encrypted on-device. Sensitive credentials on your device are held in secure storage. Access to selfie and verification data is restricted to authorised review staff.
Scene is intended for adults aged 18 and over. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. If we learn that we have, we will delete it.
You can access and update your profile information at any time in the app. You can revoke location, camera, and notification permissions in your device settings, and opt out of non-essential communications.
You may request a copy of your personal data, ask us to correct inaccurate data, or object to certain processing by emailing [email protected].
Deletion: account deletion requests result in deactivation and deletion of your profile details, KYC selfies, trust vouches, and encryption keys within 30 days, subject to retention required for legal disputes or safety audits. To request deletion, email [email protected] or visit our account deletion page.
We may update this policy as the app evolves or as the law requires. When we make material changes we will update the "Last updated" date above and, where appropriate, notify you in the app. Continued use of Scene after an update means you accept the revised policy.
